CPAP Mask Liner Guide

Who are CPAP mask liners for?

Mask liners are most useful for people who experience skin irritation, redness, or pressure marks from their silicone cushion, or who find that oils from their skin cause the cushion to break down or lose its seal more quickly than expected. The fabric barrier addresses all three issues — it's softer against the skin than silicone, reduces the direct transfer of facial oils to the cushion, and can help extend cushion life as a result. They're also a practical option for people with a known sensitivity to silicone materials. If your cushion itself is worn, cracked, or no longer sealing correctly, a liner won't fix that — you'll also need a replacement cushion.

Will a mask liner affect my seal?

When fitted correctly, a good quality liner should not materially affect the seal — the fabric is thin enough to conform to the cushion's sealing geometry. Some users find they need to make a minor headgear adjustment after adding a liner to account for the small amount of additional thickness. If you notice increased leaking after fitting a liner, check that it's positioned correctly and the headgear is snug. Liners also need regular washing to remain hygienic — hand wash in warm water with a mild detergent and air dry before use, or see our CPAP cleaning products for suitable options.
