About the Headgear

The AirFit / AirTouch F20 headgear uses a system of adjustable fabric straps that wrap around the back and top of the head, holding the full face mask firmly against the face. A well-fitting headgear is essential for consistent therapy — it keeps the mask in the correct position to maintain a proper seal and reduce air leaks throughout the night. Worn or stretched straps are one of the most common causes of mask leak, so replacing headgear as part of your regular maintenance routine makes a real difference to therapy quality.

Care & Cleaning

Hand wash weekly in warm water with a mild liquid soap. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue. Do not use bleach, chlorine, alcohol, scented soaps, or moisturising or antibacterial soaps, as these can degrade the materials. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. Gently squeeze out excess water — do not wring — and air dry away from direct sunlight. Always refer to the ResMed user guide for complete care instructions.

When to Replace

Plan to replace your headgear approximately every 12 months, or sooner if you notice any of the following: straps have stretched out, lost their shape, or no longer hold tension; visible fraying, pilling, or fabric breakdown; the mask is becoming harder to fit or is no longer maintaining a good seal overnight; or discolouration, staining, or odour that persists after cleaning. Like all CPAP consumables, headgear is a wear-and-tear item, and keeping it in good condition is one of the simplest ways to protect your therapy.
