BMC G3 X A20 Auto CPAP Machine with 4G Modem & Heated Tube

The new generation of BMC's G3 A20 auto CPAP machine for obstructive sleep apnea. Includes a 4G modem for Wi-Fi-free data sharing, integrated heated tubing and a 360 mL humidifier for all-night comfort.

The BMC G3 X is the new generation of BMC's G3 A20 auto CPAP machine. It pairs an automatic pressure algorithm that tells obstructive and central events apart with a 360 mL heated humidifier, integrated heated tubing and a quiet blower. This package includes the 4G modem, so your therapy data can reach your sleep clinician over the mobile network, with no home Wi-Fi to set up.

Key Features

  • Event-aware auto pressure: identifies the type of breathing event before responding, so pressure rises for airway blockages but not for central pauses.
  • Three Pressure Response settings: Soft, Standard or Fast, so the speed of pressure changes can be matched to how you tolerate them.
  • 4G modem included: sends therapy data to BMC's PAPLink portal over the mobile network, no Wi-Fi or phone pairing needed.
  • 360 mL humidifier chamber: sized for a full night of humidity, with a push-to-release, lift-out chamber and wide fill port.
  • Integrated heated tubing: keeps the air warm on its way to your mask to reduce condensation ("rainout") in the tube.
  • Hands-free nightly routine: 30-minute humidifier pre-heat, Auto On when you breathe into the mask, Auto Ramp, Auto Off when you take it off.
  • RESlex exhalation relief: three levels that ease pressure slightly as you breathe out.
  • Five-year warranty on the machine itself.

How the G3 X Adjusts Your Pressure

An auto CPAP (also called APAP) does not blow at one fixed pressure all night. It works between a minimum and maximum pressure set from your prescription, anywhere in the G3 X's range of 4 to 20 cmH₂O, and moves up only when your airway needs more support. That usually means a lower average pressure than a fixed machine set high enough for your worst moments of the night.

What matters is which events the machine responds to. Obstructive apnoeas, hypopnoeas, flow limitation and snoring are caused by the airway narrowing or collapsing, and extra pressure holds it open. Central apnoeas are different: breathing pauses because the brain briefly stops sending the signal, and more pressure does not help. The G3 X is designed to record central events and periods of Cheyne-Stokes breathing without raising pressure for them. How far and how fast it raises pressure for obstructive events depends on how long the event lasts and how high the pressure already is, so it responds firmly when pressure is low and more gently near the top of your range.

Your clinician can fine-tune this with the Pressure Response setting. Standard suits most people. Soft makes changes more gradual, for people who find rising pressure disturbs their sleep. Fast responds more quickly, intended for more severe obstructive sleep apnea. There is also an optional SmartA setting, which uses your last five nights of effective therapy to choose a starting pressure after the ramp and slowly adjusts your minimum and maximum over time. It works from your P95, the pressure your machine stayed at or below for 95% of the night, which is one of the numbers you will see on your therapy reports.

Your Sleep Data: 4G Modem and PAP Link App

With the 4G modem fitted, each night's results upload automatically over the mobile network. There is no Wi-Fi to set up and nothing to pair. You can follow your own therapy in BMC's free PAP Link app, available from the App Store and Google Play. It shows your nightly usage hours, mask leak and AHI (apnoea-hypopnoea index, the number of breathing events per hour that are still getting through). Most sleep specialists look for an AHI under 5 and at least four hours of use a night. A steady or falling AHI is a good sign your settings are working. If it stays high, leak keeps climbing or your numbers change suddenly, take a screenshot to your GP or sleep specialist.

If you are working with a sleep clinician or CPAP provider, they can review the same data in BMC's PAPLink portal and adjust your settings remotely, without you bringing the machine in. The G3 X also stores summary data for up to 512 days, and the included SD card holds around 70 days of detailed breathing data at eight hours a night, so nothing is lost if mobile coverage drops.

Who Is This For?

The G3 X suits people with obstructive sleep apnea who have been prescribed auto CPAP, or a fixed pressure that their clinician is happy to set on an auto machine (the G3 X runs in either CPAP or auto mode). It is a good fit if you want remote monitoring without relying on home Wi-Fi, if you wake with a dry mouth or nose and want strong humidification, or if you would rather the machine start, ramp and stop on its own. If you only ever need one fixed pressure, the BMC G3 C20 fixed pressure CPAP machine is the simpler option. To weigh the G3 X against ResMed, Fisher & Paykel and Löwenstein machines, compare our other auto CPAP machines, or read our guide on how to choose the right CPAP machine.

It is not the right machine if you have been prescribed bilevel (BiPAP) or ASV therapy, or if your sleep specialist is treating central sleep apnea. If you already own a G3 A20 that is working well, there is no clinical reason to upgrade before it is due for replacement.

What's in the Box

  • BMC G3 X auto CPAP machine (black or white)
  • Smart humidifier with 360 mL water chamber
  • Integrated heated tubing
  • 4G modem
  • Power adaptor and power cord
  • SD card
  • Standard air filter
  • PM2.5 fine-particle filter box, which traps finer dust and pollen (replace at least every 6 months, or sooner in dusty conditions)

  • Quick operation guide and user manual

A mask is not included. The G3 X's tubing fits standard CPAP masks from any brand, so you can keep your current mask or choose a new one from our range of CPAP masks. Replacement filters, chambers and tubing are listed under BMC CPAP machine parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your G3 X needs to be set to the pressures on your prescription or sleep study report. For auto mode that is a minimum and maximum pressure; for CPAP mode it is a single pressure. Send us a copy of your prescription with your order and our team can set the machine before it ships. If you do not have one yet, talk to your GP or sleep specialist first. Guessing pressures can leave sleep apnea under-treated.

That is condensation, usually called rainout. Warm, humid air cools on its way through the tube, especially in a cold bedroom. The G3 X's heated tubing is there to prevent it. Leave humidity on Auto, or turn the humidity level down a step if it keeps happening. After you switch off, the machine runs a short cool-air cycle (Delay Off) to dry the tubing and cool the heater plate.

No. The G3 X records central apnoeas and Cheyne-Stokes breathing and is designed not to raise pressure in response to them, because more pressure does not help those events. It does not treat central sleep apnea. If your reports show frequent central events, take them to your GP or sleep specialist. Some people need a different type of therapy, such as ASV, which only a specialist can prescribe.

The G3 X uses a revised pressure algorithm with the three Pressure Response settings and SmartA, a quieter blower, a repositioned flow sensor designed to reduce the risk of water getting in, and a larger 360 mL push-release water chamber. Our version also has the 4G modem rather than Wi-Fi. If your G3 A20 is still working well and your therapy is effective, there is no need to replace it early.

BMC covers the G3 X machine for five years from purchase. Parts that wear with normal use, including the water chamber, heated tube, power cord and adaptor, carry a 90-day warranty, so plan to replace them as part of regular maintenance. Keep the water chamber filled correctly and the chamber seated properly. Water entering the machine is not covered.
