CPAP Accessory Buying Guide
How often should I replace my CPAP filters?
It depends on the filter type. Disposable fine filters — the thin, white filters used in most ResMed and Philips machines — should be replaced every two to four weeks, or sooner if they're visibly discoloured. Reusable foam or pollen filters can be rinsed and reused but still need replacing every one to three months as the foam degrades over time. Running a clogged filter restricts airflow and puts strain on your machine's motor, so this is one of the most important maintenance tasks to stay on top of. Browse CPAP filters by machine model to find the correct type.
Do I need a heated tube, and is it worth the upgrade?
A heated tube is worth considering if you experience rainout — condensation forming inside your CPAP hose during the night, which can cause water to drip into your mask or produce a gurgling sound. Heated tubing works in combination with your machine's humidifier to maintain a consistent air temperature along the tube, preventing moisture from cooling and condensing. ResMed's ClimateLineAir tubing (for AirSense 10 and AirSense 11) is the most common upgrade in this category. It's not necessary for everyone, but if rainout is disrupting your sleep it's one of the most effective solutions available. Browse tubes and setup kits to find compatible options for your machine.
Can I run my CPAP machine from a battery?
Yes — portable CPAP batteries allow you to run your machine away from mains power, whether you're camping, travelling, or managing power outages. Compatibility varies by machine and humidifier settings; most machines draw less power when the humidifier and heated tube are switched off, which extends battery run time considerably. Medistrom batteries are among the most widely compatible options stocked at CPAP Club, with versions available for 12V and 24V machines. Before purchasing, check our CPAP battery guides to confirm compatibility with your specific machine, or browse the full batteries and power options range.
How often should I replace my humidifier water chamber?
Humidifier chambers should be replaced every six to twelve months under normal use. Over time, mineral deposits from water and repeated heating cycles cause the chamber material to degrade — small cracks or cloudiness are signs it's time to replace. Using distilled water rather than tap water significantly slows this process. If you notice your chamber leaking, cracking, or developing persistent discolouration that doesn't clean away, replace it sooner. Find your compatible chamber in the humidifier parts section.
