Hypoallergenic vs Standard — Which Filter?

ResMed makes two filter types for the S9 / AirSense 10 family. The standard filter captures around 75% of airborne particles at 7–8 microns and works fine for most users in clean indoor environments. The hypoallergenic filter (this product) captures around 98% at the same size — a significant step up if you're sensitive to pollen, dust mites, pet dander, mould spores, or fine smoke particles. Common reasons to upgrade to hypoallergenic:

• You live with cats, dogs, or other pets that shed
• You have allergies, hay fever, asthma, or other respiratory sensitivities
• You live in a dustier environment — rural areas, near construction, or older homes
• You wake up with congestion or irritation that improved after starting CPAP and is now returning
• It's hay fever season and your usual filter isn't enough

Replacement Schedule

Replace your CPAP filter approximately every month — the 12-pack is sized to last roughly a year of monthly replacement. Replace sooner if you notice visible discolouration, dirty patches, or a drop in airflow. Users with pets, allergies, or in dustier environments may want to check weekly and replace more frequently. Replace immediately if the filter has been exposed to liquids or visible debris.

Important — Do Not Wash

The hypoallergenic filter is disposable, not washable. Attempting to wash, rinse, or vacuum the filter damages the fibre matrix and reduces its filtration effectiveness. Replace it on schedule rather than try to clean it.
