Standard or Hypoallergenic — Which Filter?

ResMed makes two filter types for the S9 / AirSense 10 family. The standard filter (this product) captures around 75% of airborne particles at 7–8 microns — the right choice for most users in clean indoor environments. The hypoallergenic filter captures around 98% at the same particle size — worth the upgrade if you have allergies, asthma, pets, or live in a dustier environment. The standard filter is the right pick if:

Not for the AirSense 11. The newer AirSense 11 uses a differently-shaped filter that isn't interchangeable — the matching filter is the AirSense 11 Standard Filter.

Replacement Schedule

Replace your CPAP filter approximately every month — the 12-pack is sized to last roughly a year of monthly replacement. Replace sooner if you notice visible discolouration, dirty patches, or a drop in airflow. Users with pets, allergies, or in dustier environments may want to check weekly and replace more frequently. Replace immediately if the filter has been exposed to liquids or visible debris.

Important — Do Not Wash

The standard filter is disposable, not washable. Attempting to wash, rinse, or vacuum the filter damages the fibre matrix and reduces its filtration effectiveness. Replace it on schedule rather than try to clean it.
