About the Diffuser

The diffuser sits within the mask elbow or vent port and is responsible for allowing your exhaled CO₂ to exit the mask circuit during therapy. Its small, precisely engineered holes disperse exhaled air in multiple directions, reducing noise and preventing a concentrated stream of air from disturbing you or your bed partner. Because it plays a direct role in maintaining a safe breathing circuit, the Brevida user guide requires that the vent openings be kept clean, unobstructed, and fully intact at all times.

When to Replace

Replacement of the diffuser is damage-based rather than time-based. Inspect the diffuser regularly as part of your routine mask clean. Replace it immediately if you notice any cracks, deformation, or holes that remain visibly blocked after cleaning. To clean, use a soft-bristle brush (such as a soft toothbrush) to gently clear each hole, rinse thoroughly under warm running water, shake to remove excess water, and allow to air dry away from direct sunlight before reassembling your mask.
