About the Diffuser

The diffuser sits within the Eson mask's elbow or vent area and is responsible for allowing exhaled air — including CO₂ — to safely exit the mask during therapy. The small holes across the vent surface disperse exhaled gas away from your face and your sleep partner, helping to keep the therapy environment comfortable. Because the diffuser plays a direct role in the safety and performance of your therapy, Fisher & Paykel's user guide requires the vent openings to be kept clean, unobstructed, and in good condition at all times.

When to Replace

Replacement of the diffuser is based on condition, not a fixed schedule. Inspect the diffuser regularly during your routine mask clean. Replace it immediately if it appears cracked, deformed, or if any holes remain visibly blocked after cleaning. To clean the diffuser, gently scrub with a soft-bristle brush (such as a soft toothbrush), rinse thoroughly under running water, shake out excess water, and allow to air dry away from direct sunlight. Never use the brush on the Eson cushion itself — brush cleaning is for the vent component only.
