About the Headgear

The AirFit F40 headgear features adjustable straps that allow you to dial in the right tension for your face shape and preferred sleeping position. A well-fitted headgear is essential — even a small amount of stretch or slack can lead to mask movement, pressure leaks, and disrupted sleep. Worn or stretched headgear is one of the most common causes of mask leak, so keeping it in good condition is a simple and effective way to protect your therapy outcomes.

Care & Cleaning

Hand wash the headgear weekly in warm water using a mild, unscented liquid soap. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue. Avoid bleach, chlorine, alcohol, scented soaps, and moisturising or antibacterial products, as these can degrade the materials over time. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. Gently squeeze out excess water — do not wring — and allow to air dry away from direct sunlight. Always refer to the ResMed user guide for complete care instructions.

When to Replace

Plan to replace your AirFit F40 headgear approximately every 12 months, or sooner if you notice any of the following: straps have stretched and no longer hold their tension; visible fraying, pilling, or breakdown of the headgear material; the mask is harder to position correctly or is no longer maintaining a good seal; or persistent discoloration, staining, or odour that won't wash out. Like all CPAP consumables, headgear is a normal wear-and-tear item — replacing it on schedule is one of the easiest ways to keep your therapy on track.
